Rearrange scenes
Move a scene with its content or place it under a different act.
You have written Outside under The departure, but want it to happen in The return. Move the scene instead of copying its individual blocks.
Change scene order
Section titled “Change scene order”- Open the Structure sidebar.
- Find the scene you want to move.
- Grab the dotted Drag scene handle to the left of its title.
- Drag the scene to the desired position in the list and release it.
The heading and its body move together. The body extends up to the next Scene or Act heading; that next heading is not included in the move. The script and its automatic scene numbers follow the new order.
Clicking the title navigates to the scene. Use the dotted handle when you want to move it.
Move a scene to another act
Section titled “Move a scene to another act”Drag Outside into the list under The return, above or below its other scenes. Release it at the intended position within that act.
The scene keeps its writing and assigned places. Its position now makes it part of the destination act. Check the resulting order in both the sidebar and the script.
Act headings mark group boundaries. The sidebar moves individual scenes; an act heading is not a handle for moving the whole act. To transfer several scenes, move them one at a time in the order you want.
Move a scene from the keyboard
Section titled “Move a scene from the keyboard”- Focus the scene’s dotted handle, using Tab to reach it if needed.
- Press Space or Enter to pick it up.
- Use Arrow up, Arrow down, Arrow left or Arrow right to move between positions.
- Press Space or Enter again to drop it.
Press Esc to cancel before dropping.
