Rename or duplicate a script
Update a title and subtitle, or make a separate draft with the options you need.
Rename The door when its working title changes. Duplicate it when you want a separate draft for rehearsals.
Rename a script
Section titled “Rename a script”- On the home screen, find its card.
- Open the three-dot menu, Open actions for The door.
- Choose Rename script.
- Set Title to
The last door. Add or change Subtitle if needed. - Choose Save changes.
The same script appears under its updated title and subtitle. Its writing stays in place. Title and subtitle are also used by the title page; its other fields, such as credits, are edited in Script settings.
Make a rehearsal draft
Section titled “Make a rehearsal draft”- Open the card’s three-dot menu and choose Duplicate script.
- Set Title to
The last door — rehearsal draft. - Turn on Copy settings and Copy attributes if you want them in the draft.
- Select Open in editor after creating to start working on the copy immediately.
- Choose Duplicate script.
A separate script is created. Later changes to its writing do not update the original.
Choose what to copy
Section titled “Choose what to copy”Script content, including acts, scenes, places and musical entries, is always copied. The two switches are initially off:
| Option | Effect |
|---|---|
| Copy settings | Keeps page layout, block styles and flow settings, initial-page settings, headers and footers. Otherwise the copy uses defaults. |
| Copy attributes | Keeps confirmed characters and groups with their details. Without it, names in the copied writing are unconfirmed. |
The copy starts without the original subtitle or title-page details. Music attachments and comments are not copied by this action. Check the new script before using it as your rehearsal draft.
Use a .stepkg file when you want a portable backup with metadata and attachments. Duplicating a draft and restoring a package serve different needs.
